About Me
Hi, I’m Oliver.
I grew up in a family of four as the youngest child. Looking back, anxiety was never a stranger to our family. Some of my relatives have walked this road too, though I didn’t realize how much that history would eventually become part of my own story.
By the time I was 36, both of my parents had passed away from cancer. Losing them changed me in ways I didn’t fully understand. Slowly and quietly, fear found a place in my life. It didn’t arrive all at once. Instead, it grew in the background until it became the lens through which I saw my own health.
About three years ago, I became convinced that something was seriously wrong with me. I made countless trips to the hospital, certain that every new sensation meant I had a heart condition. I was searching for an illness that every test insisted wasn’t there.
Then one specialist noticed something I couldn’t see myself.
He gently suggested that what I was experiencing might be anxiety and encouraged me to speak with another doctor. After a thorough examination, I was told something that was both surprising and difficult to believe: I was healthy. Aside from being overweight and having mild hypertension, there was no hidden illness. Instead, I was encouraged to see a therapist.
That decision changed my life.
I was diagnosed with health anxiety, and for the first time, everything began to make sense.
Recovery hasn’t been a straight road. Some days have been filled with hope, while others have required patience I didn’t know I had. Along the way, I’ve learned that healing isn’t about eliminating fear completely. It’s about learning to live a full life even when fear whispers in the background.
This blog is my journal of that journey.
I don’t write as a doctor, therapist, or expert. I’m simply someone who has walked through anxiety and continues to learn from it every day. My hope is that by honestly sharing my experiences—the victories, the setbacks, the ordinary moments, and the lessons God has taught me—you might find a little encouragement for your own journey.
If you’ve found your way here, welcome.
Wherever you are on your path, I hope these words remind you that even the quietest journeys can lead us toward hope.
